How I Manage Sore Muscles

Since I last week was a recovery week, I have no training plan update for you. Because I took recovering very seriously and did almost nothing...and enjoyed every minute of it!

Instead I want to tell you about something that has been saving my butt (and thighs...and knees..and neck) while training for this triathlon. It's a soothing blend of therapeutic grade essential oils that supports healthy circulation and eases muscle soreness and joint stiffness.

It's a blend of wintergreen, peppermint, camphor, German chamomile, blue tansy, osmanthus, and helichrysum oils. I have it in the oil form as well as the lotion form because I use it so often. The lotion form is less mess and I tend to use that more, but the oil is useful too. This stuff is seriously amazing! I usually apply it after I get out of the shower on anything that I can tell is going to be sore or is already sore after my workouts. One of the best parts about this blend is that you can start to feel the effects almost immediately.

I'm still fighting my mystery foot injury, and this stuff has been a lifesaver. I massage it into my foot once in the morning and then again when I get home in the evening, put a sock on it, and enjoy the relief it provides! My massage therapist used this blend on my legs a few weeks ago when I went to her and was a giant sore and knotty mess. It made a huge difference. It kind of reminds me of IcyHot or BenGay, but it works so much better and smells much nicer!
